Dunes in November Light

After weeks without doing some serious landscape photography, the conditions were finally right again to go out with my precious camera.
All day long the sky was filled with clouds but with enough space for the light to cast through them.

While riding on my bike to the beach I decided not to enter the beach. I've done already so much seascape shots and yet again a groyne in just a slight different position in the frame is not something I wanted to add to my portfolio.
So not entering the beach meant that I had to stay on the Dunes.

I am currently standing on one of the higher dunes of the Netherlands. They provide a nice protection against the sea. Further ahead you can sea pieces of Zoutelande. A typical dyke-village. When standing on this dune you can clearly see that the village is a couple of meters below sea level.

But enough about the location. I found a nice place on the dune to set up my tripod. There were a lot of clouds coming from the horizon, just about to cover the sun. I had my telelens on my camera and I wasn't really satisfied with it. I thought I just had one or two minutes before the light would get worse. So I switched to my regular lens (18-55) but it was just not working. The nice foreground didn't came out as great as I wanted as the nice was illuminating the grass so wonderful. I just had enough time to put on my wide-angle lens and expose. Two shots after this one the greatest moment was gone and all shots were just not good enough anymore.

Why the square crop? This shot was made in panorama-mode. But the highlight caused by the sun on the left of the frame was just too bright. I had to get rid of it so I cropped.
